Yes. At Luna Physio, physical therapy is a proven option for managing chronic pain. We use customized exercise programs, hands-on care, and patient education to restore movement, strengthen the body, and provide long-term relief strategies.
What should I expect during my first physical therapy session in Logan?
During your first visit at Luna Physio, BreeAnn Allred and her team will complete a thorough evaluation of your health history, current condition, and goals. From there, we design a personalized treatment plan that may include guided exercises, manual therapy, and education to help you feel confident in your recovery journey.
How long does a typical physical therapy session last in Logan?
At Luna Physio, most sessions last 45–60 minutes. This gives us time to provide one-on-one attention, focus on targeted exercises, and use manual therapy techniques when needed.
What if I have questions after my physical therapy session?
Your physical therapist should be available to answer any questions or concerns you may have about your treatment plan before and after each visit. You can also contact the clinic directly for further assistance. We want you to get the most out of every session!
What type of visit should I schedule?
Initial Evaluation:
Schedule an initial evaluation if you have:
- Never been seen before by a Luna PT
- Been a past patient, but have a NEW diagnosis/condition being treated
- Not been seen for >1 calendar year and are not currently on a maintenance program with Luna
Follow-up Visit: This visit is to be scheduled after your initial evaluation as a continuation of your care plan. If you are an existing patient, but want to address a NEW or separate issue from your previous plan of care, please schedule an INITIAL evaluation appointment.
Lactation Visit: A physical therapy treatment for a breastfeeding clogged duct focuses on relieving the blockage and preventing future occurrences. This condition, known as mastitis or a clogged milk duct, occurs when milk flow is obstructed, leading to pain, swelling, and sometimes infection. The treatment may include:
- Therapeutic Ultrasound: Gentle application of ultrasound waves to the affected area helps reduce inflammation, promote circulation, and break up the blockage.
- Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD): Specialized, gentle massage techniques that stimulate lymphatic flow, reduce swelling, and encourage the drainage of the clogged duct.
- Heat Therapy: Application of warm compresses before treatment helps soften the tissue, improving the milk flow and making the physical therapy more effective.
- Positioning and Posture Training: Educating the patient on proper breastfeeding techniques and positions to ensure optimal milk flow, reducing the chance of future blockages.
- Self-Care Guidance: Instructing the patient on at-home techniques like self-massage, warm showers, and frequent feeding or pumping from the affected breast.
- Stretching and Mobility Exercises: Gentle stretches for the chest, neck, and shoulders to relieve tension and improve overall milk flow.
This comprehensive approach aims to reduce discomfort, clear the blockage, and support the patient in maintaining healthy breastfeeding habits.
30-minute Dry Needling Appt: Trigger Point Dry Needling Session: Must have a previous evaluation in order to schedule and have previously discussed appropriateness for this time frame and visit with your provider.
- Sterile Needle Insertion: Using fine, sterile needles similar to acupuncture needles, the therapist inserts them directly into the muscle’s trigger points or tight bands. The needle insertion is quick and precise, and it may cause a brief twitch response, which is a sign that the muscle is relaxing.
- Muscle Relaxation and Release: The needle works by stimulating the muscle, increasing blood flow, and encouraging the release of tension in the affected area. This helps reduce pain, improve muscle function, and enhance range of motion.
- Aftercare and Advice: After the treatment, the therapist may apply gentle massage, heat, or stretching exercises to further relax the muscles. Patients may experience soreness, similar to post-workout soreness, which usually subsides within 24-48 hours.
- Follow-up and Progress: Depending on the condition, the patient may need several sessions to achieve optimal results. The therapist will track progress and adjust the treatment plan as needed.
What can I expect on my first visit?
After your initial appointment is scheduled you will receive new patient paperwork via email. It is required to complete prior to your first visit in order to allow your therapist time to prepare for your evaluation. Arrive on time to your appointment in comfortable clothing – ideally; exercise shorts/leggings and a t-shirt. (Minimize layers as much as possible). Your first visit depends highly on your needs and where you are in your journey, but you can expect a comprehensive assessment of your back, hips, pelvis, pelvic floor (as needed and when you are feeling ready), and movement. We will discuss your goals and an initial treatment plan to get you back to living your best life.
Do I have to have an internal pelvic floor exam?
You can expect an internal exam, but that may not always be the case. Your therapist will check the pelvic floor internally because that is the only way to get the most accurate knowledge of structure and function. Not all patients need or are ready for this, so we may use external techniques first. Please communicate your comfort level so we can provide the best care. It is extremely important that nothing is forced, or rushed by anyone involved in your care. You will never be asked to do something you are not comfortable with. Not every appointment requires internal work unless that is part of your program.
Should I come if I’m menstruating?
Yes! We want to avoid gaps in your care. However, if you are uncomfortable, we can make adjustments. If you are having increased pain, or difficulty relaxing, we can work in different ways. Take note that it may be valuable to see what your organ function is doing if your complaints involve painful menstruation. We can help you work with your body.
Do you do “other" types of physical therapy?
Our physical therapists are trained with expertise in anatomy, movement assessments, and exercise prescription based on any impairments or pain you might be facing. We can provide effective treatments for pain in any joint – head to toe!
Do you take my insurance?
We are not contracted or “in-network” with insurance. Unfortunately insurance really limits our abilities to provide the best care for you. They don’t have your best interests at heart, but we do. This also helps us to reduce overall cost. Some insurance plans include “out of network” coverage. This is typically a percentage that your insurance company will reimburse directly to you. You will need to submit documentation to them, which we provide for you at no additional cost.
You may use HSA/FSA cards for your PT visits.
If you are willing to use cash for massage, lashes, a hair appointment, acupuncture, or a gym membership, which are all valuable, why not for skilled, one-on-one, doctoral level care? What is your quality of life worth? What would you pay to be able to do what you love again, be out of pain, or be “normal”? YOU are worth it! Your HEALTH is worth it!
We understand that there are many financial situations, and do not want this to deter you from the care you need. All costs will be discussed up front. No surprises. If you have difficulty with the cost for visits, we are happy to discuss payment options with you.
What is the cost of a visit?
The cost of the initial evaluation is $200. Follow up visits are $174!
